So finally realizing that the idea of a big man in the sky watching what I do, and eventually judging how I lived my life and either allowing me an eternity in heaven or an eternity in the depths of hell was a completely ridiculous idea, I’ve recently been questioning the purpose of me being here, or of any of us being here, and what I keep coming back to is the idea that there is no purpose. We are simply an arrangement of atoms and electrical connections that possess the ability to construct abstract thought as well as the ability to wonder. Eventually our bodily functions cease to operate, and we become motionless, as we begin to decompose.

Yet time presses on. And whether mankind will be around to continue recording what happens during that time is yet to be seen. Our past has shown us that before our physical body was created things were happening in the world, meaning that once we exist no more, time will continue on, though we shall not.

One thing though truly bothers me, what is it exactly that cause that first cell to replicate in the formation of a human body? What is it that physically and on an atomic scale gives us our personality?

rednwhite2190: we’re not kidding anyone, a career in engineering isn’t going to get you a mansion in beverly hills, so why do we waste the time we have with strenuous work, instead of enjoying what we know we have?

dumbblonde1806: because it’s what my parents want me to do, and i’ve always been a people pleaser so i give in to it.

The Avett Brothers are a non-traditional bluegrass band that originated in Concord, North Carolina. The band is made up of two brothers, Seth and Scott Avett, and a third member Bob Crawford. Risen from the ashes of Seth and Scott’s former rock band Nemo, The Avett Brothers combine old-time country, bluegrass, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, honky tonk and ragtime to produce a sound described by The Washington Post as “post civil-war modern rock”, or by other reviewers as “grungegrass”.
